Scapa Flow is best nown for 2 fings: 1. The scutlin of da German fleet in 1919, in da 1st World War, an 2. the very last peeps to die in dat war (jus 9). It's a space of sea near da Orkneys, far north of Britain.
Wot happen wuz dat the Germans had lost and becoz Scapa Flow is a very good natural harbor (is only abt 70 feet deep an 160 feet at da deepest) and is very well protected.
In Nov 1918 after da war had ended the 74 ships of German fleet wer kept prisoner der.
Dey knew they wud ave 2 accept da demand of giving up, but dey did nt wan ships in British ands.
In June 1919, when da British ships left Scapa Flow for practise at sea, da admiral gave da command to sink all da ships.
No lives were lost but 9 were killed whn 1 British ship fired on 1 of da German ship to stop dem sinkin it. These wer der las peeple 2 die in dat war.
Da bad fing was, lots of oil an nasty stuff was left in da water. Yuch.
Dat war, 1st World War was a war of honor, unlike da 2nd which was more tactical. Apart from da Japanese kamikaze planes of course.
